About Us
As part of the Uniting Church in Australia, the Presbytery of Port Phillip East consists of around 80 congregations. As a presbytery we work with each of these churches as well as Uniting Church schools in the area to ensure that they are supported in their ministries. We have a number of different Ministries using the gifts and skills of both Lay People and Clergy. Some of our Church buildings are very traditional and are protected by heritage overlays, but other more recent buildings are shaped by a different sense of Mission.
In the past the Church was a place of refuge and retreat from the world, now our churches are trying to be places of welcome gathering and hospitality, places of community. Places and communities in which you can explore your relationship with God through Christian Spirituality.
Yes, we are a Church with many places of worship and such a variety of communities! This is something we celebrate. We have big churches, little churches as well as college faith communities. We have an extraordinary breadth of cultures sometimes in their own stand alone congregations and even in a great multicultural mix.
